A Look Back...
CELEBRATE! ~ In Chicago Magazine Kildeer School was ranked amongst the top 10 elementary schools of Lake County! We are so proud of this recognition and of our students for their daily accomplishments. Our dedicated faculty and staff work so hard every day to ensure all learners reach their maximum potential. The success of our learners wouldn't be possible without the partnerships we have with all families, and we thank you for your support as well!
Bus Evacuation Drill & the Cougar 5 ~ On Wednesday all students participated in a school bus evacuation drill. Students also had fun getting to meet with our Police Resource Office, Officer Freeman, and me to review how our Cougar 5 look on the bus. Officer Freeman and I explained how following the Cougar 5 on the bus is of critical importance to ensure safety for themselves and others. I was so proud of our students for what a wonderful job they did through the event. Students received a handout to review with parents, sign, and return to their classroom teacher. Thank you so much for supporting this message at home with your children, as we all work together to create a respectful and safe bus environment.

A Look Ahead...
Parent Review ~ New Parent Review Members are sought for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years. Serving a two-year commitment, Parent Review Committee members review and offer feedback on curricular and instructional innovations, initiatives, policies, programs, topics required by school board policy or school code, and provide feedback during the development of the district calendar. Parent Review members have shared that they become well informed regarding our school district. The role of Parent Review members include being active participants by sharing opinions, questions, suggestions, and feedback in positive ways, act as district ambassadors to promote the district in the community, direct other parents to the appropriate district personnel and resources as needed, and invite other parents to attend district sponsored meetings and events. Meetings are scheduled for 9/24, 10/22, 11/12, 1/8, 2/11, 3/18, and 4/15 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. An additional member is needed to represent Kildeer School. 3rd Grade Parent Math Night ~ Our Math curriculum focuses on developing children’s understandings and skills in ways that produce life-long mathematical power. Some of the math practices taught are new to parents, as they are different than the traditional math practices we were taught. We value the strong home/school connection we have here at Kildeer, and ask for your attendance to support your child in their development. Please join us for a district-wide interactive workshop to learn and practice the focus algorithms your child will be using this year in math on Wednesday, September 12th from 7pm - 8pm in the Prairie School Multi-Purpose Room.
