A Look Back...
Grade 1 ~ High Touch/High Tech Our first graders had another exciting visit this week from High Tech-High Touch. This in house field trip coordinated with their solids/liquids units. While the scientist was here the children participated in various experiments to discover the properties of solids and liquids and characteristics of both physical and chemical changes. They LOVED having this experience.
Grade 2 ~ Entrepreneur Day Second grade students all took part in Entrepeneur Day where they participated as either a producer, consumer, or both. In addition, each classroom adopted a different charity for students to learn the value of giving to others. Thank you, parents, for your donations towards these great causes!
Grade 4 ~ Ellis Island Fourth grade students have been learning about the hardships immigrants faced as they came to the United States. They took part in a reenactment of the immigrant experience of those who came through Eills Island. This was truly moving to watch and I was so impressed with the work of our students and teachers to make this so meaningful.
A Look Ahead...
MAP Testing
On Monday we will begin administering the Measures of Academic Progress (M.A.P.) assessment to all students. As you recall, the M.A.P. assessment is administered to students three times a year in the areas of reading and math. This assessment allows educators to examine students’ progress in these content areas over time. This assessment is also used to reevaluate students’ need for intervention outside of the regular education classroom. We look forward to sharing your child’s results with you.
