In the Groove!

We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather for our Cougar Cross Country Challenge.  The sun was shining, birds were singing, leaves were falling, and kids and staff were enjoying every minute during our run.  It was a fun-filled event that brought the whole school together!  Take a look at this quick video clip that captures the excitement of the day. Please notice my special talent of running the Cougar Cross Country Challenge in a sweater dress!

The students also participated in two fire drills this week.  Students and staff did an outstanding job.

By now you've probably seen the envelope in your child's backpack that came home yesterday. This contained assessment results for MAP and ISAT.  The data gained from these assessments are a part of the information we use to help us gear instruction to meet the learning needs of every child.

Parent Night Change of Date & Location: Understanding Your Child's New Report Card
Please join us on November 9th at 6:30 pm at Prairie School for a District level parent information night on Understanding Your Child's New Report Card. This was previously scheduled for October 20th but has been changed due to a holiday.  Prairie is located at 1530 Brandywyn Lane in Buffalo Grove.

Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up
  • Parent drop-off and pick-up is located in the rear of the building.  Take the side drive to the back of our school.  Do not drop children off or pick children up where our busses are.
  • Pull all the way up when dropping your child off.  The drive gets backed up very quickly!
  • For safety sake, never allow your child to exit the driver's side of the car.  This is extremely dangerous.  Children must exit curbside.
Halloween is Around the Corner!
It's hard to believe that I'm already talking about Halloween!  Students at Kildeer all enjoy a costume parade and classroom party on the big day.  I can't wait for my first Halloween at Kildeer, and know your children are feeling the same excitement about the day!  To ensure that a grand day is had by all, please remember to follow our guidelines as you are figuring out that perfect costume:
  • "Kid friendly" in ease of changing: Children come to school in their regular clothes and must change into their costumes independently after lunch.  Any hair color or makeup must be applied before coming to school.
  • "Kid friendly" for content: No masks, weapons (real or fake!), blood, super scariness, or general ickiness should be a part of the costume.  Any hair color or makeup must be simple and should not distract anyone from learning for the day.  Also, we assume all costumes will follow our school dress code, meaning no bare tummies.
The parade for families will begin around 1:30.  Weather permitting, we'll parade outside the building and parents/families are welcome to watch IN THE FRONT PARKING LOT.  The kids will be able to see each other's costumes during an indoor parade in the gym before we head outside.  If the weather doesn't cooperate (EEK!) the students will parade inside the building for each other and, for obvious security reasons, an INDOOR PARADE will be for STAFF AND STUDENTS ONLY.
