In the Groove!

I hope your week was as fun as ours!  Everyone seems to be settling into routines and we are off to a great start!  MAP testing is underway and will continue next week and into the following week as well for all grades (see last week's message).  Your child's fall MAP report will come home in the Trimester 1 report card.

All children were exposed to Tumblebooks this week, which provides families with access to online books to use from home.  Please ask your child about this and take a look at what a great resource this is!  Click here for our iLab link to find directions for logging on and the access link to do so.  The students learned about Tumblebooks during their iLab time, where children practice skills through the use of technology.  This is a 30 minute special that kids of all grades enjoy each week!

Parent Drop Lane
To help keep our drop lane running safely and efficiently, please remember the following guidelines when dropping your child off in the morning:
  • Pull all the way forward.  Please do not stop at the door.
  • Please have your child ready to exit the vehicle.  The drop lane is not the best place to finish that last bit of homework or search for a missing item.  If needed, please pull into a parking spot to take care of these last minute issues.
  • Make sure your child exits the car on the passenger side of the vehicle.  There is a lot of traffic on the driver's side of the drop lane, and we all want our kids to be safe at all times.
  • After 8:25 a.m. the drop lane is closed.  Please drive up to the front office and sign your child in.
Thank you!

Construction & Bussing
As I know that you aware, the road construction in and about the Kildeer Community has been a real struggle. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be this way for approximately three more weeks. Please note: students who ride the busses are never marked tardy - busses are an extension of Kildeer School. If you drive your student, please plan on leaving home a little earlier to accommodate the current traffic patterns as students will be marked tardy if they are not in their classroom ready to work at 8:25 a.m.

Recess Reminder
Don't we just love our steady, predictable weather?  This is just a reminder that children do go out to recess daily, unless rain or temperatures prohibit, and please help them to leave the house with proper outerwear.

Band & Orchestra
Fifth grade band registration was this past Thursday night.  If you missed it, there's still time to sign up!  Contact Mrs. Christenson at achristenson@kcsd96.org, and she'll help you get everything you need for your child to participate in this year's band.  Band lessons begin the week of September 19th.

Fourth grade orchestra registration was this past Wednesday night.  If you missed it, there's still time to sign up for this as well!  Contact Mr. Duggan at mduggan@kcsd96.org, and he'll help you get everything you need for your child to participate in orchestra.  Lessons begin September 23rd.

3rd Grade Math Night Clarification
Accuracy is important-in communication, as well as math!  We regret the confusion and misinformation regarding the 3rd-Grade Math Night for parents.
Math Night for Ivy Hall, Kildeer and Prairie parents of 3rd graders is Thursday, September 15th, 7-8 p.m., in the Staff Lounge at Ivy Hall School.  Ivy Hall School is located at 1072 Ivy Hall Lane, Buffalo Grove.
