In the Groove!

Thank you to those of you who visited us on Curriculum Night this week. It was wonderful to see you!  If you were unable to attend, please reach out to your child’s teacher to receive the grade-specific curriculum brochure that highlights the learning target outcomes for this school year.  It will help you to understand what your child should know and be able to do by the end of the school year.  This brochure is an excellent tool to help us partner in your child’s learning.  Additionally, parents received a copy of the new Standards Based Report Card that we will be implementing throughout this school year.  There will be more opportunities to learn about the new reporting format, including a podcast available on our website and a parent information night.  These will be highlighted in this Principal’s Message, as they are made available.

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)
The teachers will continue to learn about your child’s strengths and areas of need by administering the Measures for Academic Progress (MAP) assessment in the next two weeks.  MAP is given to students in grades 1-5 in the areas of reading and math.  Teachers use this assessment data, in combination with additional formal and informal measures, to plan for future instruction.  In keeping with District practice, MAP results will be shared with you at fall conferences.  Your child does not need to do anything to prepare, other than to come rested and have a good breakfast.

Thank You!!

Thank you to our wonderful PTO and families for the Farmer’s Market themed luncheon you provided our staff on Thursday!  The food, treats, decorations and gorgeous raffle baskets were much appreciated.   Your support and kindness do not go unnoticed and we thank you for making our school a family!
