A Look Back...
Cougar Pride Kick-Off Assembly ~ What a fantastic first week! The kids were ready to go as we opened our school year with our full school Cougar Pride kick off assembly. We had several students help out by leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance and reviewing our Cougar 5. The big gym was alive with energy and excitement as we all sang our Show Five song. We sing this song a couple times a week on the announcements before we announce our Cougar Paw recipients. It's one of our favorite Kildeer traditions as we recognize the positive choices our students make. Grade Level Meetings ~Today I met with every grade level to review behavior expectations that we promote through our Cougar 5 reminders. Miss Compobasso, our school social worker, or "friends and feelings teacher", joined me in a discussion with students around what our Cougar 5 looks like across settings. This included the classroom, specials, hallway, recess, lunch, bus, and bathroom. All students were eager to participate and shared ideas of how we can be a positive school family. Please review our Cougar 5 behavior expectations with your child at home. These are found at the top of this Principal's Message.
Building Updates ~We are proud of our school! Have you seen our exciting building updates? This includes fresh paint brightening up the cafeteria and adjoining hallway, beautiful new casework in our cafeteria, new ceilings through our main hallway and in the cafeteria, and more! Also, we must thank our PTO and all parents for our new drinking fountains that promote healthy living and a healthy earth with bottle fillers, a sound system in our large gym, and lighting in our small gym/stage area.
A Look Ahead...
Student Tardies ~ Timeliness is extremely important to your child's education. Please understand that being tardy significantly impacts our building routines for attendance, lunch-counts, etc. Most importantly, being tardy impacts student learning. A child coming in late must catch up to the happenings in the classroom, also causing a disruption for other students. At Kildeer, learning begins immediately. Please help create respectful habits for your children by establishing morning routines that assure a timely arrival. Students should be in our building by 8:20, as our tardy bell rings at 8:25. Thank you for your support.District 96 Dash ~ Join District 96 families, teachers, and staff for the 2nd annual District 96 Dash. The 5k walk/run will step off from Twin Groves Middle School, 2600 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., at 8:30 a.m. on Sun., Sept. 23. REGISTER ONLINE (each registered runner and walker will receive a T-shirt) and mark your calendar for this fun family activity that all ages will enjoy. All the PTOs in District 96 are working together to sponsor this event and will donate the proceeds to the District 96 Kids in NeedFund. If you are unable to run, please consider making a DONATION.
