In the Groove!

A Look Back...

New Principal's Message Features
I've added a couple features to this message to ease your web experience while you catch-up weekly on what's happening around Kildeer and District 96.  On the right, you'll see a "search", so if you remember seeing something in a previous message you are looking to reference, you can pull it up by keyword instead of trying to remember what week it was in.  Also on the right are links directly to the Willow Grove and Woodlawn Principals' Messages.  I thought this may be useful for those of you with children in more than one District 96 school.  In addition, you'll notice on the top of this page I've added the common quick links I typically provide within the text of this message.  I've also added links to home pages I felt would be helpful.  Currently included:
  • Information, Forms & Permission Slips ~ Includes both school and PTO
  • PTO Newsletter ~ Updated weekly!  Please check each week for the most current Kildeer PTO events and opportunities.
  • Home Page Links ~ The District and Kildeer School home pages are included.  You'll also find Willow Grove and Woodlawn for parents who have children attending those schools.
Click on the Scrapbook link on the top of this page to enjoy photos from previous Kildeer School experiences!

Grade 1 ~ Long Grove Confectionary ~  The trip to the Long Grove Confectionery connects to the first grade science unit of solids and liquids.  Students get to watch chocolate turning from liquid to solid and visa versa.   Photos will be up next week!
A Look Ahead...

Homework Requests Following Student Absence
Guidelines for requesting homework following a student absence are outlined in the Parent/Student Handbook as follows:
  • If a student is absent for only one day, assignments should be obtained from his or her teacher(s) upon return to school.  If the student is going to be absent for a longer period, homework requests may be made to the school office. Homework will be available for a parent to pick up within 24 hours.
Please note that homework requests are available for parent pick up, according to the handbook.  Depending on particular details of the circumstance (i.e., timing), we are generally able to accommodate sending homework home with another student.  Please understand, however, that sending homework through email is not something we are able to do.
